Description:

The original masses were discovered in 1967 in far eastern Siberia and were classified as Coarse Octahedrite.   A very recent expedition found additional but much smaller masses, and a few of those masses turned out to contain olivine crystals. Most of those crystals were already oxidized and black but a few still retain the bright golden color of the Pallasites.

However the specimens containing those yellow olivines have all disappeared in private collections, and the other pieces are already getting scarce.  Even without the crystals, Seymchan is a beautiful meteorite, with a sharp, unusual Widmanstatten pattern.  .

Very nice end piece with a great pattern.  About 3.5cm at the widest.
