Registry: AB 385 Mineral Name: Huckitta Source: No. Territory, Australia Mineral Size: 72.5g Sale Price: $250.00 Description:
This is a very ancient meteorite. It is a pallasite, but the iron has oxydized into hematite a long time ago, and the remaining olivine crystals have turned dark. A first mass of only 1084g was discovered in 1924, but much more was found later, and the main mass of 3100 kilos is still the largest uncut pallasite.
Very good end-piece, showing well the unusual texture of this odd meteorite inside and its weathered outside surface.
The cut and polished surface is about 9.2cm long and 5.8cm at the widest point.
