Description:

The Gold Basin strewnfield was discovered in 1995, but had been known for quite a while by gold prospectors who regularly cursed and threw away odd dark rocks that triggered their metal detectors for no good reasons.

A very ancient impact site where pieces of this Ordinary Chondrite L4 are still being found. Gold Basin specimens are dark, weathered, and relatively common on the market, but how often do you see one with crust? This one has a nice patch of dark crust.

Very nice end piece, polished on one side, crusted on the other. About 3.6cm long and 2.2cm at the widest point.
