Description:

A very well known meteorite, fell on May 10, 1879, in Emmett County, Iowa.

A mesosiderite, meaning a mixture of silicates and iron-nickel.

And it is not all that rare to find crystals of olivine mixed in too. But they are usually tiny, barely a millimeter across. This part-slice has an enormous crystal of olivine, this one is about 4 cm long, and over 1 cm wide. Huge. And there is at least half a dozen tiny crystals strewn around too!
