Registry: PH026 Mineral Name: D'Orbigny Source: Argentina Mineral Size: 58.88g Sale Price: $23,500.00 Description:
A 16.55 kg stone, mostly covered with dark gray fusion crust, was found in a corn field after a farmer hit it with a plow, in July 1979, near Buenos aires, Argentina. It was a shield-shape oriented mass but sadly it was broken in pieces shortly after the discovery.
It is a most unusual meteorite, an angrite, with many vugs, some quite large and containing tiny white crystals, and rarely some green crystals of olivine.
A remarkably large slice, about 80 x 62 x 7mm.
Smaller specimens are also available. Please ask.
